HomeMy WebLinkAbout980792.tiff WELD COUNTY COUNCIL -REPORT TO THE PEOPLE April 21, 1998 The Weld County Council is mandated by the Home Rule Charter of Weld County, Colorado, to report to the people the events that have shaped the previous quarter. This report summarizes the activities of the Weld County Council during the first quarter of the calendar year 1998. January 20, 1998 Council Meeting -Weld County Centennial Center • Judy Curtis was elected president of the Council for 1998. Dan Oster was elected vice president. • The Council reviewed with Planning Department staff the rules and regulations covering the recorded exemption process in Weld County. The history of Weld County's MUD and the reason for its existence was also covered along with the status of Sherwood Village. • Research by the Council regarding the management of debris at the USA Waste Front Range Landfill near Erie was presented. • The Council decided to offer its assistance to a citizen concerned about beet dump operation noise near his home. The Council is willing to take decimal readings of the noise heard near the concerned citizen's home when the beets are being transported. • The Council investigated its authority regarding Social Services. February 17, 1998 Council Meeting -Weld County Centennial Center • The Council considered options to solve the problems presented by a citizen regarding volume and speed of traffic, and the dust created by the traffic, on a section of Weld County Road 45. • The citizen with the beet dump problem discussed at the January Council meeting wants the Council to take decimal readings of the beet transportation noise during the 1998 autumn beet dumping season. March 17, 1998 Council Meeting -Weld County Centennial Center • The Council reported a positive outcome to the concerns about Weld County Road 45. The section of the road is to be paved in August or September of 1998. • A citizen's complaint regarding his request to divide his property was considered and referred for investigation. • Discussion was initiated to set the salary of the Weld County Coroner. During the first quarter of 1998, Council members have researched answers to questions and concerns brought to their attention by citizens of Weld County. In that process Council members have talked periodically with the Commissioners and various Elected Officials and Department Heads. This report is not meant to be an exclusive enumeration of the activities entered into by the Council. The County Council believes that the Weld County Home Rule Charter continues to be a viable tool for the citizens of Weld County.
