Dear Board of County Commissioners:
Schaefer Enterprises, Inc. would like to thank the Weld County Commissioners for all of the
support provided to us during the past six years. Schaefer has grown and improved the
quality of their services 150% during these past years. Your financial assistance has
provided us with opportunities to implement new and necessary services and to improve the
quality of life of persons with developmental disabilities.
We have completed our budget for the fiscal year 1996-1997. At this time, Schaefer will not
need funding from the Weld County Commissioners. We have met our match for all
services that you have funded and have been able to develop further resources to continue
these programs.
One specific program that you assisted in funding - the transportation scholarships has
assisted consumers greatly in accessing their jobs and the community. This program will be
continued through the additional resources procured by the agency.
Schaefer believes that monies from the Weld County Commissioners should go to agencies
who are struggling to stay open and serve important populations from Weld County. At this
time, Schaefer is not that strongly in need and would prefer to see monies going to agencies
who are.
In further years, our agency may be facing serious financial crisis due to the states goal to
implement a managed care system (much like HMO's) for persons who require long term
supports. If we need further assistance, I hope we can request this from the Weld County
Commissioners.
We appreciate your your continued support for us and your support to those agencies in
Weld County who desperately need funding to continue their operations. We wish you
success during the 1997 funding year!
