I presume that each of you were hired to fulfill your positions of County Commissioners because you've had a positive contribution in business or other endeavors in Weld County. I alsc am presuming that you are or were good business men and women;making decisions to better those whom you serve and the community. I have listened to 4-H Students, Parents, Leaders, Fair Superintendents, and Fair Board Members and find it very difficult to believe that our Weld County Commissioners have just been"Out Smarted",by a small group of 4-H Students, FFA Members, a few Leaders and discontented Parents. I understand that your decision was based on a statement"this will only hurt the 4-H Youth". I believe I can speak for many of the unhappy 4-H Families by saying that the 4-H Youth would have accepted your final decision to uphold the Rules and Regulations as written. If you break the rules or don't comply then pay the consequences. I understand, that as County Commissioners, you supported the Fair Book Rules and Regulations. But, now,all I see is that these Fair Rules are just stepping stones that may or may not be used depending on who you are speaking too. What an excellent tool for the"4-H Youth"to grow on. Is this what you want to teach our Youth? I found the following articles that I believe you as Commissioners need to reread and possibly consider the next time you are making a 4-H Youth decision. I might add, that some of us Leaders try to our fullest to strive full time at these Goals as well as our Youth members. COLORADO 4 -H CODE OF CONDUCT The 4-H program in Colorado has a 4-H Code of Conduct to help clarify minimum expectations of participants at 4-H events.
