COLORADO MEMORANDUM TO: Gloria Dunn DATE: June 27, 1997 FROM: Don Carroll, Project Administrator SUBJECT: USR-1159, Leslie Vandenbos vie The Weld County Public Works Department has reviewed the proposal; the following comments are recommended to be a part of any approval: 1. Drive: The applicant has indicated that on the Access Information Sheet the main access to the facility is off of WCR 29.5. 2. Drainage: On the mylar, there are flow arrows identifying the drainage pattern across the proposed runway. How is the applicant going to handle the crossing? The proposed runway section is 50 feet in width. Will there be a culvert installed or a low water crossing? 3. Runway: The applicant has indicated that the proposed runway will be 50 feet in width. Will this be constructed of road base or virgin material? This runway should be graded and drained to provide an all-weather access. I recommend that the runway should not extend into WCR 102 as identified in the sketch provided in the questionnaire. I recommend the setbacks that were recommended by the FAA from a similar case involving a private runway within Weld County. The FAA required 240 feet as a safe area on both ends of the runway with 60 feet from the centerline on either side as a safety area. In addition, a 125 foot object -free area from the centerline of the runway on both sides is required. cc: Commissioner Harbert S-428 file plan24 JUN 2 '7 19C7 972031 MEMORANDUM TO: Gloria Dunn, Current Planner DATE: July 22, 1997 IIDc.
