Ladies and Gentlemen:
The minutes of the Weld County Council meeting held on January 20, 1998 summarize
some remarks made by Ms Shani Eastin of County Planning Services referring to the
County Mixed Use Development [MUD] district.
Enclosed are copies of two letters which address two concerns relating to the MUD: [1]
the inappropriateness of its expansion and [2] the ability of surrounding municipalities to
urbanize the MUD area, as required by the Municipal Annexation Act of 1965, which now
removes any need or legitimacy for its existence. The Council might monitor the BOC in
their actions on [1] and consider their inaction on [2].
This letter is a request that the Weld County Council review the actions of the Weld Board
of County Commissioners as providec/by Section13-8[6] of the Weld County Home Rule
Charter. I request that this letter and enclosures be made part of the record of the next
meeting of the Weld County Council.
