RE: APPROVE NOTIFICATION OF FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE AWARD FOR CHILD CARE
QUALITY AND AVAILABILITY IMPROVEMENT GRANT AND AUTHORIZE CHAIR TO
SIGN
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado, pursuant to
Colorado statute and the Weld County Home Rule Charter, is vested with the authority of
administering the affairs of Weld County, Colorado, and
WHEREAS, the Board has been presented with a Notification of Financial Assistance
Award for the Child Care Quality and Availability Improvement Grant between the County of
Weld, State of Colorado, by and through the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County,
on behalf of the Department of Social Services, and Weld Information and Referral Services,
commencing September 1, 1998, and ending June 31, 1999, with further terms and conditions
being as stated in said notification, and
WHEREAS, after review, the Board deems it advisable to approve said notification, a
copy of which is attached hereto and incorporated herein by reference.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners of Weld
County, Colorado, ex-officio Board of Social Services, that the Notification of Financial
Assistance Award for the Child Care Quality and Availability Improvement Grant between the
County of Weld, State of Colorado, by and through the Board of County Commissioners of Weld
County, on behalf of the Department of Social Services, and Weld Information and Referral
Services be, and hereby is, approved.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED by the Board that the Chair be, and hereby is, authorized
to sign said notification.
The above and foregoing Resolution was, on motion duly made and seconded, adopted
by the following vote on the 5th day of October, A.D., 1998, nunc pro tune September 1, 1998.

RE: Notification of Financial Assistance Award with Weld Information
and Referral Services under the Child Care Quality and
Availability Improvement Grant
Enclosed for Board approval is a Notification of Financial Assistance Award (NOFAA) with
Weld Information and Referral Services (WIRS). The NOFAA is necessary to conclude our
"request for proposal" process with WIRS. Recently, the Board approved the contract between
the Weld County Department of Social Services and the Colorado Department of Human
Services.
The NOFAA encompasses the Request for Proposal submitted by WIRS and amendments to the
proposal and forms our contract with WIRS. The major provisions of the project are as follows:
1. The term of the project is September 1, 1998 through June 31, 1999
2. The project provides for two components as follows:
A. Strategic Plan Development for a comprehensive , collaborative and coordinated
child care plan - - $10,000.
B. Parents as Teachers Demonstration Project for legally exempt child care providers
- - $16,990.
