re: MLRB Permit # M-85-088, Fort Lupton, Colorado
To Whom It May Concern:
We recently received a registered letterl from Aggregate, Inc. in regards to the
proposed Fort Lupton sand and gravel pit2 and wish to express our apprehension
and concern in the matter.
We purchased our farm3 in June of 1991 which, unbeknownst to us, was after a
permit had been preliminarily approved for the mine. Our property is due east
of the site.
While we are worried about increased traffic, noise, and decreased air quality,
we are primarily concerned for the continued viability of our farm and our
home. All assurances aside, we feel the need to be frank about our concerns
and expectations.
Much of our crop is alfalfa and even in the driest of years our main field sub -
irrigates and requires no additional irrigation. We feel any substantial change
in the water table could jeopardize this situation and cause us to incur additional
financial burden.
In addition, we have two shallow wells which separately support crops and our
household. Again, we are concerned with the level of the water table but also
the potability of the water.
The underground water is already heavily taxed by a commercial well leased
by A&W Water that is due North of us, but our needs are currently satisfied.
Should we, however, face an additional drop in the water table, we worry that
we would suffer a deterioration of water quality in our home or worse —a
depletion of the well.
Drilling a deeper well is a proposition we are not financially able or willing to
support. Our irrigation well is only 50ft. from the proposed mine and initial
estimates for drilling either well deeper run to over $15,000.

While we too try to be a good neighbor, we sincerely hope that ou(interests are
considered and protected. And should our operation or quality of life be
impacted by the proposed mine, we hope that Aggregate, Inc. will not only be a
considerate, but responsible neighbor.
Respectfully,
