SUBJECT: CENTRAL WELD SANITARY LANDFILL
CLOSURE NOTIFICATION
Dear Chairman Hall and Mr. Doak:

In accordance with Section 2.5.2 of the Regulations Pertaining to
Solid Waste Disposal Sites and Facilities, 6 CCR 1007-2, this
letter shall serve as notification to the Colorado Department of
Public Health and Environment (CDPHE) and the Weld County Board of
County Commissioners that the Central Weld Sanitary Landfill (CWSL)
anticipates achieving final refuse design grades during the Fall of
1995, and may close as early as October 15, 1995. In addition, CWSL
intends to place a sign of suitable size at the entrance to the
facility on or about August 15, 1995, that provides information to
the general public regarding this closure notification.
Although CWSL anticipates closing the facility in accordance with
this timeline and has utilized best available technology and
current information to estimate the remaining life, multiple
independent factors such as changes in refuse volumes and weather
may influence this timeline and the actual closure date. If
however, such extenuating circumstances arise that require CWSL to
significantly modify the anticipated closure timeline, we will
maintain communications with CDPHE, WCDH and with the general
public through the posted notice at the entrance of the facility.
CWSL will strive to minimize substantial variation from this
anticipated closure timeline in order to diminish the inconvenience
to the citizens of our service area as much as possible.
CWSL would like to extend its appreciation to Weld County and CDPHE
for the past opportunity to provide environmentally -sound waste
disposal services to the citizens at that location. We will

continue this commitment to meeting the needs of the Northern Front
Range Regional Service Area at the North Weld Sanitary Landfill.
We look forward to working with you and the community as a whole
during the post -closure period as we maintain the integrity of the
site and as we implement our biodiversity project according to the
plans previously submitted.
