C TO: Frank B. Hempen, Jr. DATE: March 16, 1999
COLORADO Director of Public Works/County Engineer
,9
FROM: Dean Dreher, Civil Tech III
SUBJECT: Installation of stop signs at the intersection of
(Weld County Road) WCR 8 and WCR 49.
A traffic study has been completed, and it indicated that there are sufficient warrants to place stop
signs at the above-referenced intersection.
The warrants are:
1. Intersection of a less important road with a main road where application of the normal right-
of-way rule is unduly hazardous.
Sight distance is restricted from two directions.
2. Street entering a through highway or street.
3. Unsignalized intersection in a signalized area.
4. Other intersections where a combination of high speed, restricted view, and serious accident
record indicates a need for control by a stop sign.
The intersection of WCR 8 and WCR 49 meets warrants numbers one and four. (Please see the
attached diagram.) Current traffic volumes dictate the need to stop traffic on WCR 8 at WCR 49.
Through traffic will be maintained on WCR 49.
