1996 at 107 North 42 Avenue, Greeley (Lot 6 Block 3 Larson Fifth Filing). The owner was transferred iiQ997 and
English/Bums Real Estate once again sold the home. Taxes for the seller from January 1, 1997 to November 26, 1997 were
$23.31.
It seems tome many tax dollars are not being collected. Granted,the closing of December 5, 1996,was near the end of the
year, but had the records been updated when it closed to sales pricefassessed evaluation, the seller would have had
approximately$1,000 to prorate to the seller in 1997 and taxes would be collected in 1998. This is just one example of
many. Times this amount to hundreds of other new home sales situations and that adds up to a hunk of change forever lost.
If I am not looking at this in the right perspective,please enlighten me.
The Greeley Area REALTOR®Association is very concerned with this problem. At a recent city council work session, I
spoke my concern with the city wanting to raise fees for developers when we have lost uncollected property tax money. I
feel we cannot keep our heads in the sand any longer.
We would appreciate a hasty response.
