RE: APPROVE REQUEST FROM J. MONTES, INC., DBA EL RODEO NIGHTCLUB, TO BE
OPEN FOR BUSINESS ON NEW YEAR'S EVE
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado, pursuant to
Colorado statute and the Weld County Home Rule Charter, is vested with the authority of
administering the affairs of Weld County, Colorado, and
WHEREAS, J. Montes, Inc., dba El Rodeo Nightclub, 3101 Highway 119, Longmont,
Colorado 80501, currently has a Tavern Liquor License, with extended hours, issued by Weld
County and the State of Colorado, subject to various conditions as detailed in the Board of County
Commissioner's Resolution dated October 2, 1996, which license expires October 9, 1997, and
WHEREAS, Condition E. of said resolution reads as follows:
E. That the tavern shall only sell alcohol on
Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays.
WHEREAS, at the meeting on December 16, 1996, the Board of County Commissioners
considered a request from J. Montes, Inc., dba El Rodeo Nightclub, to be open for business on
Tuesday, December 31, 1996, with extended hours to 2:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 1, 1997,
for New Year's Eve in 1996, and
WHEREAS, J. Montes, Inc., was not present or represented at said meeting, and
WHEREAS,the Board of County Commissioners heard all of the testimony and statements
of those present; studied the request of the applicant and the recommendations of the Weld County
Attorney, based on information received from the Sheriffs Office of the lack of incident reports
since the tavern's reopening in November, 1996; and all of the exhibits and evidence presented
in this matter and, having been fully informed, finds that this request shall be approved.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners of Weld
County, Colorado, that the request from J. Montes, Inc., dba El Rodeo Nightclub, to be open for
business on Tuesday, December 31, 1996, with extended hours to 2:00 a.m. on Wednesday,
January 1, 1997, for New Year's Eve in 1996, be, and hereby is, approved.

RE: Request by J. Montes, Inc. (El Rodeo Nightclub) to be
COLORADO Open for Business on Tuesday, December 31, 1996
Attached is a letter from Jeanette Montes, on behalf of J. Montes, Inc. d/b/a El Rodeo Nightclub.
The letter asks for permission for the El Rodeo Nightclub to be open for business on Tuesday,
December 31, 1996, with extended hours to 2:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 1, 1997. The bar
is currently restricted to being open only on Thursday through Sundays, with extended hours.
I have spoken with Manager Kim Fliethman to find out if the Weld County Sheriff's Office has
any problem with Ms. Montes' request. He has checked with Deputy Mark Profitt who is
assigned to that area. Deputy Profitt recommends that the Board of County Commissioners grant
Ms. Montes' request, because there have been no incident reports relative to the El Rodeo
Nightclub since it reopened in early November.
I recommend that the Board of County Commissioners grant Ms. Montes' request and allow the
El Rodeo Nightclub to be open for business on December 31, 1996 and from 12:00 a.m. to 2:00
a.m. on January 1, 1997.
