The challenge was offered by Trail committee members for us, the concerned landowners; to find an alternate route in this area. The 4th Street option presented last year seemed so timely after the recent death of a child on 59th Avenue and 4th Street . The community is crying out for a bike path through this corridor. However, discussion with landowners/developers Martin Lind and Ryan Duran are such that the Poudre River Trail can now gain access to the river. From its location on F Street and 59th Avenue, the trail can wind to the river through Mr. Lind' s development and course along the river on Mr. Duran' s property as he sees fit . It can then hook up on 71st Avenue to Mr. Orr' s new development, Poudre River Ranch. This provides a number of benefits to you : * More scenic . * Less tortuous and dangerous for cyclists . * More river front footage . * Less traffic congestion at 71st Avenue/5th Street . * Less anti-trail sentiment by involved landowners (see previous petition) . * Avoid retaining wall costs along the bluff . * Avoid the trail ' s awkward proximity to Mr. Silva' s house . The County may then permanently close right-of-way of the abandoned road under current consideration. Such a minor revision for a major positive impact is truly exciting. This certainly may be an impetus for your fundraising efforts . Sincere y ubr tted, Susan D. Cart . . SDC/kt cc : Ryan Duran Martin Lind Bill Webster Imo" 961219 Hello
