DAN STUART The Transportation Commissioners are bringing to a close
Manitou Springs the Project Priority Programming Process . The purpose of
PuueblOHA.FORTING the process is to work with county and municipal
DONALD G.MORRISON officials, metropolitan planning organizations, regional
Ltmon planning commissions and the public to discuss project
DAN HOPKINS status and
Secretary priorities of the current Statewide
Transportation Improvement Program (STIP) and to develop
the fiscal year 1999-2004 STIP.
The final Statewide Meeting is held to facilitate the
integration of Regional Transportation Improvement
Programs into the STIP. The meeting is scheduled for
Thursday, May 21, 1998 beginning at 8 : 00 a.m. , in the
Carbondale City Council Chambers at 511 Colorado Avenue
(970-963-2733) .
Following opening remarks, each Transportation Planning
Region is asked to make a 15 minute presentation before
the full Commission. I suggest that any significant
changes in project programming, selection, or priority be
mentioned in your presentation. An overview of the major
issues or concerns identified during the development of
the draft TIP would also be of interest. Further, it is
appropriate to discuss any multimodal projects that have
been placed among your priorities, the impact of flexible
funding, how the 7th Pot Program projects impact your
regional priorities, if the regional projects are
accurately reflected in the STIP and how well your
projects have been moving through the STIP. Submitting
a written report is encouraged.
In April, the Commission directed that the draft
1999-2004 STIP be submitted to citizens, affected public
agencies, representatives of transportation, agency
representatives, private providers of transportation and
other interested parties for public review and comment .
