The purpose of PuueblOHA.FORTING the process is to work with county and municipal DONALD G.MORRISON officials, metropolitan planning organizations, regional Ltmon planning commissions and the public to discuss project DAN HOPKINS status and Secretary priorities of the current Statewide Transportation Improvement Program (STIP) and to develop the fiscal year 1999-2004 STIP. The final Statewide Meeting is held to facilitate the integration of Regional Transportation Improvement Programs into the STIP. The meeting is scheduled for Thursday, May 21, 1998 beginning at 8 : 00 a.m. , in the Carbondale City Council Chambers at 511 Colorado Avenue (970-963-2733) . Following opening remarks, each Transportation Planning Region is asked to make a 15 minute presentation before the full Commission. I suggest that any significant changes in project programming, selection, or priority be mentioned in your presentation. An overview of the major issues or concerns identified during the development of the draft TIP would also be of interest. Further, it is appropriate to discuss any multimodal projects that have been placed among your priorities, the impact of flexible funding, how the 7th Pot Program projects impact your regional priorities, if the regional projects are accurately reflected in the STIP and how well your projects have been moving through the STIP. Submitting a written report is encouraged. In April, the Commission directed that the draft 1999-2004 STIP be submitted to citizens, affected public agencies, representatives of transportation, agency representatives, private providers of transportation and other interested parties for public review and comment . \T 980784 13/41 CC.' Following each presentation, comments on the draft TIP may be made by any interested party. Attendance for the entire meeting is urged to broaden perspectives relating to the total statewide transportation system needs. Please refer to the enclosed agenda for details. Contact Commission Assistant Dianne Cavaliere, 303- 757-9207, to inform her about who will make the presentation; also inform her if the schedule presents an unavoidable conflict. CDOT staff will be available to discuss information related to various Department programs, the Resource Allocation process, the condition and needs of the transportation system, etc. , and to answer questions. Current ISTEA Reauthorization information will also be provided. Your participation and interest in this process is appreciated and we look forward to meeting with you on Thursday, May 21st.
