RE: APPROVE INCREASE OF MAXIMUM SIZE OF WELD COUNTY PRECINCTS FROM
1,200 TO 1,500 ACTIVE ELIGIBLE ELECTORS
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado, pursuant to
Colorado statute and the Weld County Home Rule Charter, is vested with the authority of
administering the affairs of Weld County, Colorado, and
WHEREAS, Section 1-5-101(2), C.R.S., which has been amended by House Bill 95-1241,
gives the Weld County Clerk and Recorder, subject to approval by the Board of County
Commissioners, the discretion to increase the size of precincts from 1,200 to 1,500 active, eligible
electors, and
WHEREAS, J. A. "Suki" Tsukamoto, Weld County Clerk and Recorder, has requested by
a letter dated July 12, 1995, approval by the Board of County Commissioners to increase the
maximum size of precincts in Weld County from 1,200 to 1,500 active, eligible electors, and
WHEREAS, upon information supplied by the Weld County Clerk and Recorder's Elections
Office, at least two precincts in Weld County now have more than 1,200 active, eligible electors and
various other precincts may have more than 1,200 active, eligible electors registered by
September 1, 1995, and
WHEREAS, in order to avoid the creation of new precincts caused by Weld County's 1,200
active, eligible elector maximum size per precinct limit, the Board of County Commissioners agrees
that all Weld County precincts should be increased to a maximum size of 1,500 active, eligible
electors.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners of Weld
County, Colorado, that the maximum size of all precincts within Weld County, Colorado, including
those within the jurisdictional boundaries of incorporated municipalities, shall be increased to 1,500
active, eligible electors as of the date of approval of this resolution.
