To Whom It May Concern:
Regarding the permit requested by the Steermans to operate a taxidermy
business in Country Estates, I am within 500 feet of the proposed site of
the business and I would definitely object to the possible contamination of
my well and septic systems which could result from such an operation being
so close to my property.
It was my understanding when I bought my property at 2451 Tate Ave. that
there were covenants in place which prohibited residents of Country Estates
from running businesses such as this. I think that to allow people to start doing
this sort of commercial business on the properties in Country Estates would in
the long run be detrimental to the property values and I also think it could pose
health risks to both people and their livestock and pets. I really think it is just
totally inappropriate in a family neighborhood.
I would ask that the Weld County Department of Planning Services reject the
aforementioned request for permit.

Department of Planning Services:
I am writing to express my grave concern pertaining to the
request to operate a taxidermy business at lot7, block 2 of
Country Estates. As my property adjoins this property, my
deepest concern is over the possibility of ground contamination
from the chemicals used in this type of business. As you may be
aware, all of these properties have ground wells and use
individual septic systems. As a Medical Technologist in a
hospital laboratory, I am familiar with the types of chemicals
necessary for this type of work. I am highly concerned that the
improper use or disposal of these chemicals could jeopardize
the quality of my drinking water and put my well at risk of
being contaminated. I am aware that there are already several
properties in this area which are unable to use the well water
for drinking.
This summer it was necessary for us to be away from the
property for a few days. During this time, one of our horses
was toxic poisoined. He became acutely ill shortly after, nearly
to the point of having to be put down. We have as yet to discover
the source of the poisoin. Numerous other animalsrred&evdd.the
same feed and water during this time but showed no ill effects.
The run which this animal occupies lies along the fence line
between lots 7 and 8. This incident has been cause for great
concern for the safety of our livestock since we have not
discovered the source.
I have included a copy of the restrictions for Country Estates
properties. Please note paragraph B which states: "no noxious
or offensive trade or activity shall be conducted on any lot ".
I sincerely feel that a taxidermy business is an inappropriate
type of business for this area if only due to the water situation.
I would like to urge the board to carefully consider the
future of our rapidly growing area and the necessity to preserve
the integrity of the ground water for future needs before approving
the request for this type of business in a residential area.
