Dear Mr. Lennon:
This letter is in response to your letter dated February 7, 1998, requesting permission to conduct
geophysical/seismic exploration across minerals held by Weld County in Section 23, Township 8
North, Range 61 West of the 6th P.M., Weld County, Colorado. Your letter was received by the
Board of County Commissioners by facsimile on February 11, 1998.
Your letter states that Mr. Gerald Kummer is the only surface owner who may be affected by the
exploration. You also represent that Mr. Kummer has given Lockhart Geophysical his
permission to conduct the exploration and that there are no residences within one-half mile of the
line location where the exploration will occur. You state that no one will be disturbed by the
activities as a result.
The Board of County Commissioners of Weld County does not object to the planned
geophysical/seismic exploration.

COLORADO Conduct Geophysical/Seismic Exploration
Attached is a copy of a letter which was faxed to the Board today from Peter Lennon, Field Operations
Director for Lockhart Geophysical. Mr. Lennon requests permission on behalf of Lockhart Geophysical
to conduct geophysical/seismic exploration across minerals held by Weld County in Section 23,
Township 8 North, Range 61 West of the 6th P.M., Weld County, Colorado.
I spoke with Mr. Lennon last week. He asked me how this request should be handled and I suggested
that he send a letter to the Board of County Commissioners. Mr. Lennon assured me that all of the
exploration would be conducted on land owned by Gerald Kummer. As you can see in Mr. Lennon's
letter, Mr. Kummer has apparently given the company permission to conduct the exploration. There are
no residences in the immediate area which will be disturbed.
I have checked with the Clerk to the Board's Office to find out if Weld County's minerals in Section 23-
8-61 are under lease. The only lease of these minerals was to Petroleum Energy Corporation in 1989,
which lease expired in 1992.
I recommend that the Board authorize the chair's signature on the attached letter.
