Dear Mr. Kent:
Your letter of March 30, 1998,to Todd Hodges, Lead Planner, was referred to the Weld County
Health Department for further investigation. The purpose of this letter is to follow-up our verbal
communications with you over the past year. The Environmental Division of the Health
Department has conducted a sound level assessment on and around the Buckeye Trapshooting
range while the facility was in operation. At all times the facility was found to be in
compliance with their special use permit and Colorado statutes pertaining to noise. The levels at
the residential Roth subdivision to the north were consistently below statutory requirements at
the property line. Levels tended to be higher at the south boundary where the operations are
closest to the road. However, adjacent use at that point is zoned as agricultural which has no
statutory standard.
After discussion with Monica Mica-Daniels, Director of Planning Services, it is my
understanding that this operation has applied for a new USR and will be relocating in the near
future. In the interim,please be assured we will continue to monitor the facility in response to
your concerns and take appropriate action on any instance of noncompliance.
