Honorable Mayors:
I am pleased to notify you that the South 8th Avenue storm sewer
and roadway improvements from 22nd St. to 28th St. have been
completed and accepted on August 21, 1995, by the City of Greeley.
This project has been a joint effort between the Town of Garden
City, City of Greeley, and the Colorado Department of
Transportation(CDOT). CDOT appreciates the participation of all
the entities in the funding of this project and believes it will be
a valuable attribute to the urban road system for many years.
With the completion of construction, it is now appropriate to
comply with the contract and resolutions related to the abandonment
of this segment of road from the state system and acceptance by
Greeley and Garden City. By means of the original contract #94-445
dated December 30, 1993, among the three entities, and City
Resolutions #1-1993(Garden City) and #24-1993(Greeley), CDOT will
no longer be responsible for this roadway.
Pursuant to the above agreements, the City of Greeley will now
fully maintain and control the section of road from 22nd to 25th
Street, and Garden City will have these same responsibilities from
25th Street to 28th Street(State Highway 34 Bypass). CDOT retains
control of Highway 85 Business Route which diverges easterly from
8th Avenue, as described in State Highway Commission Resolution No.
283-C approved February 7, 1955.

I ask your assistance in informing the personnel within your
jurisdiction of the above responsibilities for thei.r respective
portions of South 8th Avenue. Your staffs are welcome to contact
this office with any questions or concerns with regard to the
transfers of roadway.
