Dear Mr. Ramsay:
This is to advise you that based upon the neighborhood meeting held on December 19, 1996,
regarding the Ramsay-Shockey Open Space, the Board of Weld County Commissioners has
decided not to proceed with the project. Due to the neighborhood's strong opposition and
service demands to accommodate the open space, your offer to donate the land to Weld
County is regretfully declined.
As Don Warden said in a phone conversation with you today, Weld County suggests that you
approach the Town of Berthoud to see if they would be receptive in working with you on the
project. It is the feeling of Weld County that the primary benefactors and users of the open
space would be Berthoud residents. Weld County would be happy to cooperate with the Town
of Berthoud in the annexation of the land into Berthoud, and within limits, participate in the
initial improvements to the open space via a Great Outdoors Colorado grant.
