Re: Old Weld County Road 13 Between Frederick and Dacono
Dear Commissioners:
The Town of Frederick is concerned about the deterioration of the
intersection of Old Weld County Road 13 and Highway 52 (See
attached map). The approach to Highway 52 is pot holed and most
of the pavement is buckled. The approach to Highway 52 needs to
be widened and the turn radii improved.
The Board of Trustees would be willing to annex Old Road 13
between Frederick and Dacono if the County will reconstruct the
approach to Highway 52 and seal coat the entire length of Old
Road 13.
The Town of Frederick presently has title to the railroad right
of way between Highway 52 and Road 16 and is negotiating to buy
the 160 acres to the east of this road. It would make sense for
the Town of Frederick to have this road as part of our street
system.
If you feel this is a reasonable offer, I will be willing to meet
with your representative to develop an agreement.

RE: WELD COUNTY ROAD 13/FREDERICK

Brief description of the problem/issue:
Attached is a letter dated August 21, 1997, from Mayor Tagliente in which he indicates the Town is willing to annex
Old WCR 13 if we will repair and seal coat.
Public Works has contacted CDOT, and we are in the process of getting the repair work done AT State Hwy. 52.
Irregardless of how we proceed, the repair work needs to be done.
We have a seal coat contract under way at this time. The contractor is willing to do the additional work at the bid
price, which would cost approximately $3,800.
DeaN'Dreher talked to Mayor Tagliente and described the repair work effort with CDOT and the type of seal coating
we propose. The project was acceptable to Mayor Tagliente.
If the commissioners approve the work session request, we will add the additional work into our seal coat contract
and work out the annexation procedures with the Town.
What options exist for the Board? (Include consequences, impacts, costs, etc. of options)
Approve or reject the additional seal coating cost.
Recommendation to the Board:
I recommend the Board authorize the additional $3,800 for the seal coat.
If a change order to the seal coat contract is needed, it will be presented at the end of the project.
