LeVere Colorado State Patrol 12700 WCR 14-1/2 Fort Lupton, CO 80621 Dear Craig: "5 For the past two to three weeks the truck traffic has increased along with some other problems. Speeding has been a major factor as well as cars/pickups going south passing over the solid yellow lines. Last Friday, June 13, while mowing my lawn, I counted 5 cars passing directly in front of my home. To get back to the major problem, the heavy semi trucks are not heeding to the weight limit or the speed limit signs. I have noted at least 6 plus trucks going by from early mornings to late evenings. Again these trucks are "Boss semi's, cattle trucks and grain trucks." I feel that between the DOT, Weld County Sheriff's Dept. and the Colorado State Patrol, a better control over these problems could be maintained. If the weight limit will not control these problems, I would suggest other types of control be implemented. Please give me your thoughts and/or ideas on ways to pursue this ongoing problem. Thank you for your cooperation and help in the past and I hope we can find some sort of curtailment for these problems in the future. RECOMMENDED ACTION: Narrative: I, to This letter is to Craig LeVere, Colorado State Highway Patrol Sergeant, who is in charge of the Fort Lupton office. It is regarding enforcement fo weight limits on WCR 27 south of Fort Lupton. Commissioner Kirkmeyer and I worked with Sergeant LeVere and Mr. Hedglin to come up with a plan to post weight limits, and the Board approved the postings. The signs have been in place for approximately one year. Since Mr. Hedglin is asking for enforcement by the CSHP and not asking for any action by Weld County, I think this letter should be thought of as information, and no response is necessary at this time. Believe me, Mr. Hodglin knows who to call at Weld County if he thinks we should do something.
