RE: Partial Release for Challenger Pit: DMG #M-85-026
Dear Mr. Squire:
This letter and attached map are submitted to the Division of Minerals and Geology
(DMG) as a formal request for a Partial Release consistent with Section 4.16 of the DMG
Rules and Regulations. The Partial Release is being requested for the above noted sand
and gravel mining operation. The property is located in part of the West 1/2 of Section 29,
T5N, R67W of the 6t''P.M., Weld County, Colorado.
The Partial Release request is to decrease the original four phases of mining into two
phases and decrease the overall mining permit boundary from 105 acres to 66 acres. The
attached map indicates, with gray hatch, the permit boundary area that is subject to the
Partial Release request.
The area being released has never been mined, therefore, no site grading, topsoil
replacement, revegetation or stabilization activities have occurred.
During our phone conversation today, you indicated that since you had been to the site
and personally viewed the undisturbed Partial Release area, no photos of the area as
indicated in Section 4.16.4 (c) are needed.
The operator for this property is Coulson Excavating. The property owner for the
remaining permit area is Al Challenger.
