Dear Mr. Herring,
It is my understanding that you are currently working on a project to build a training building
which will be utilized by police, fire and private industry. I also understand that it will be built in a
flood plain on the north side of Greeley, which will restrict/eliminate restroom facilities.
The Berthoud Fire Protection District serves 98 square miles, 28 of which are in Weld County.
We have forty three firefighters within a combination department with an average of 1,250 alarms
per year. The fire service in Weld County has limited locations available to them for training. The
construction of a building which may be used for a variety of training purpose, to include search
and rescue would prove to be a significant value. Facilities of this nature are needed to provide the
firefighter a hands on opportunity to develop and refine their skills.
The Berthoud Fire Protection District supports your effort in this very important endeavor, please
let me know if we can be of any service to assist in the completion of this project.
