Dear Commissioners,
This letter is written to express our support for a
resolution to be introduced by Commissioner Kirkmeyer
concerning weight restrictions for commercial vehicles on
Weld County Road 27 . On August 9, 1996, Commissioner
Kirkmeyer met with Mr. and Mrs . Robert Hedglin, who reside
on WCR 27, County Engineer Drew Scheltinga and Sgt . Craig
LeVere, to discuss the feasibility of establishing a ten
thousand pound weight limit for commercial vehicles on WCR
27 between WCR 8 and WCR 12 at the south city limits of Fort
Lupton.
Residents along that portion of WCR 27 have told our
department that large commercial vehicles travel on the
above segment of roadway at all times of the day and night .
GOVERNOR The city of Fort Lupton presently has a ten thousand pound

Fire Safety
If the resolution is enacted, and the restriction is posted
with regulatory signs, officers from our department would be
p1Epq 4 able to take enforcement action under the provisions of
existing State Statute 42-4-603 CRS . We believe this weight
^✓ restriction would enhance public safety by removing large
s5ti 1a commercial vehicles from a primarily residential segment of
WCR 27 . p Y
