Purchase of Modular Building for FENWC Migrant Head Start Program
Attached is information from GE Capital Modular Space regarding the purchase price of a
modular unit which is currently under a lease -to -own agreement with Weld Re -1 in Gilcrest,
Colorado. Gilcrest schools are no longer using the building and are interested in selling it.
The Family Educational Network of Weld County is in need of a second modular building to be
co -located with its other modular unit in Olathe, Colorado. These units will house the infant,
toddler, and preschool classrooms for the Migrant Head Start Program. The unit offered by GE
Capital Modular Space meets the needs of the FENWC program with only minor modifications,
i.e., the addition of sinks in the classroom areas for food preparation and hand washing/diapering.
FENWC has been authorized by the Migrant Branch to expend $90,000.00 to purchase a modular
unit to be installed at the Olathe site. The purchase price of the modular offered by GE Capital is
$49,857.00. Delivery, set-up and skirting will cost an additional $6,480.00. At a total cost of
$56,337, the proposal is significantly under budget.
At this time, I am requesting that the Board of Weld County Commissioners authorize the
purchase of the GE Capital modular.
