WHEREAS, The Board of County Commissioners, Weld County, Co3.ora.do requests
that State Highway # 5 from its junction with State Highway # 3 (U.S. Highway 85) in
Eaton westerly for 10.5 miles to its junction with State Highway # 259 be retained on the
Revised State Highway System to be created January 1, 19'54., in accordance with Senate Bill
#170 passed by the last leisJature, and
WHEREAS, the County road west from the `unction of State Highway # 5 and State
Highway # 259 to State Highway # 1 for 5.5 riles be placed. on the Revised State Highway
System, and
WHEREAS, the total distance is 16 miles for the cor_nec+.jor between State Highway
# 1 and State Highway # 3, and
?r ETAS, one need for t:.is connection is due to the fact that the present traffic
volume on this road is 1300 vehicles per day which is an extremely high volume for a
County Road, and
WHEREAS, a second need is that a connection between State Highway # 1, State
Highway # 185 and State Highway # 3 is important due to the fact that a rich anricu..z turall
and trade area is served by t':is East-West road which connects the three main North-South
arterial highwaystogether providing outlets to all points for this agricultural traffic.
HOW, L{ REFORE,BE IT RESOLVED,that it is requested by the Board of County
Commissioners, Weld County, Colorado that State Highway # 5 from its junction with State
Highway # 3 (U.S. Highway 85) in Eaton westerly for 10.5 miles to its junction with State
Highway # 259 be retained on the Revised State Highway System, and that the County road
west from the junction of State Highway # 5 and State Highway # 259 to State Highway # 1
for 5.5 miles be placed on the Revised State Highway System to be created January 1, 1954.
