RE: ACTION OF BOARD CONCERNING WAIVER OF TEN-DAY WAITING PERIOD FOR
CONSIDERATION AND INVESTIGATION OF THE 1998 SEALCOAT PROJECT BID -
PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado, pursuant to
Colorado statute and the Weld County Home Rule Charter, is vested with the authority of
administering the affairs of Weld County, Colorado, and
WHEREAS, the Department of Purchasing has requested waiver of the ten-day waiting
period for the bid for the 1998 Sealcoat Project for the Department of Public Works, Bid Request
No. B9800170, due to a late bidding process and the need to complete the project before
weather conditions change, and
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners deems it advisable to waive the ten-day
waiting period for said bid.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners of Weld
County, Colorado, that the ten-day waiting period for the bid for the 1998 Sealcoat Project for the
Department of Public Works, Bid Request No. B9800170 be, and hereby is, waived.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED by the Board that the low bid from Thompson Valley Seal
Coat, in the amount of$61,393.80 for Diamond Coat Blend and $69,450.00 for UltraSeal, be,
and hereby is, accepted.
The above and foregoing Resolution was, on motion duly made and seconded, adopted
by the following vote on the 22nd day of July, A.D., 1998.

COLORADO SUBJECT: Recommendation for Contract Services
for 1998 Sand Seal Project.
Bids were received on July 21, 1998, for the 1998 Sand Seal Project.
There were four bids containing two alternates each. Attached are copies of the bids which contain
unit prices and bid amount. Below is a listing of the total dollar sum bid for each alternate.

The lowest bid was given by Thompson Valley Seal Coat for alternate#1.
The Public Works Department has previously worked with the low bidder on numerous projects
with satisfactory results. I recommend the bid be awarded to Thompson Valley Seal Coat for
alternate#1 in the amount of$61,393.80.
