RE: APPROVE INVITATION TO BID FOR HIV PREVENTION FROM HEALTH
DEPARTMENT TO COLORADO DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC HEALTH AND
ENVIRONMENT AND AUTHORIZE CHAIR TO SIGN
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado, pursuant to
Colorado statute and the Weld County Home Rule Charter, is vested with the authority of
administering the affairs of Weld County, Colorado, and
WHEREAS, the Board has been presented with an Invitation to Bid for HIV Prevention
from the County of Weld, State of Colorado, by and through the Board of County
Commissioners of Weld County, on behalf of the Weld County Health Department, to the
Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment, commencing January 1, 1997, and
ending December 31, 1997, with further terms and conditions being as stated in said invitation,
and
WHEREAS, after review, the Board deems it advisable to approve said invitation, a copy
of which is attached hereto and incorporated herein by reference.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners of
Weld County, Colorado, that the Invitation to Bid for HIV Prevention from the County of Weld,
State of Colorado, by and through the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, on
behalf of the Weld County Health Department, to the Colorado Department of Public Health and
Environment be, and hereby is, approved.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED by the Board that the Chair be, and hereby is, authorized
to sign said invitation.
The above and foregoing Resolution was, on motion duly made and seconded, adopted
by the following vote on the 23rd day of October, A.D., 1996.

Subject: Continuation funding for HIV Education Program
The Weld County Health Department is re-applying for CWT HIV Prevention
Funding through the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment
for Jan. 1 - Dec. 31, 1997. The four interventions that our agency is seeking for
funding are; Individual Level Health Education, Group-Risk Reduction
Education, Community Identification Processes and Public Information. A total
of approximately $50,000 in funding is being requested.
The following activities are to be included in the Operational Plan:
* More in-depth individual education in the WCHD STD Clinic.
* Continued presentations to community agencies serving clients at-
risk.
* Continued public information presentations upon request to
schools and other community organizations.
* Increased collaboration with area agencies, organizations, and
institutions.
* Continued coordination of the Weld County AIDS Coalition.
* A media campaign, including newspaper editorials and radio
interviews, surrounding HIV education and prevention.
* A pamphlet targeting women at risk specifically on Pediatric
HIV/AIDS.
