TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN
Re: Application of Andesite Rock Company
We have recently purchased property near the proposed operation known as Camenisch Pit.
When we purchased the property, 10765 Turner Blvd., we were told that the land to the south of
our property was to be a residential development.
We are concerned that any sand and gravel mining operation will hinder any residential
development in this area. We are also concerned that the operation will continue for a very long
time. We had hoped to build a retail center on our newly purchased property and a mining
operation in the vicinity would most likely adversely affect any retail businesses.
Additionally, we feel that we are making a sincere and time-consuming effort to follow the
guidelines of the Mixed Urban Development in the Planned Urban Development and a mining
operation will negatively impact our desire to beautify and up -grade this area of increased growth
and development. We had hoped with the external growth pressures from the Longmont
Metropolitan Area and increased interest in land development and population growth in this area
that activities such as mining would be discouraged in favor of an activity that would improve
the sense of place for local residents and business owners.
In light of the fact that there is already a mining facility to the west of this location, we feel that
having two sites in such close vicinity would be contrary to the intent of a planned, attractive
working and living environment.
Thank you for allowing us to express our concerns regarding this proposed mining operation.
Sincerely,
vo
