RE: APPROVE INSTALLATION OF TRAFFIC CONTROL DEVICES ON WELD COUNTY
ROAD 72 AT WELD COUNTY ROAD 41
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado, pursuant to
Colorado statute and the Weld County Home Rule Charter, is vested with the authority of
administering the affairs of Weld County, Colorado, and
WHEREAS,the Weld County Department of Public Works has recommended to the Board
that"Stop Ahead" and "Stop"signs be installed on Weld County Road 72 at Weld County Road 41,
to ensure safety to the traveling public, and
WHEREAS,the Board has determined that said traffic control devices are necessary for the
protection of the general public.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners of Weld
County, Colorado, that the Department of Public Works be, and hereby is, directed to install "Stop
Ahead" and "Stop" signs on Weld County Road 72 at Weld County Road 41, for the safety of the
general public, and said signs shall conform to the State manual and specifications.
The above and foregoing Resolution was, on motion duly made and seconded, adopted by
the following vote on the 11th day of March, A.D., 1996.

Subject: Traffic Control Recommendation on WCR 72 at WCR 41
At this time, there are "cross road" warning signs at the approaches to the intersection of WCR 72
and WCR 41. A field study was conducted at this intersection, which indicated a low volume of
traffic. There has been one recorded accident in the past three years; however, the site distance at
this intersection is extremely limited.
I recommend installation of a "stop ahead" and a "stop" sign at both the eastbound and westbound
lanes on WCR 72 at the approach to WCR 41. This change would establish WCR 41 as the
"through road."
I recommend these changes be made according to the attached diagrams to promote the safety of the
traveling public. All signing will conform to the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices.
