Finance and Administration Date March 25 9 COLORADO From John Pickle, Director, Health Departme Subject: Purchase of Lead Analyzer The Health Department has the opportunity to purchase a used lead analyzer machine from Samuel Shukert, M.D. of Denver. Dr. Shukert is retiring and is willing to sell his analyzer for $800 which is a considerable savings over the price of a new machine. We are expecting some unanticipated revenue from the Air Quality Program which will pay for this. Walt Speckman has agreed to cover one-half the cost with funds from the Human Services Department as we will use this machine to screen Headstart children also. Having this machine on site will be a valuable asset for our Child Health Program as we will be able to screen for lead poisoning without having the added expense of sending blood samples out to another lab for testing. I would appreciate the Board of County Commissioners and you reviewing and approving this as soon as possible in order that we may purchase the machine before it is sold to someone else. Thank you for your attention to this matter. 990678 Hello
