RE: CONSIDER PARTICIPATION IN BIG THOMPSON WATERSHED FORUM,
CONTRIBUTION OF $1,000 AND APPOINTMENT OF COMMISSIONER WILLIAM
WEBSTER TO SERVE AS WELD COUNTY'S REPRESENTATIVE
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado, pursuant to
Colorado statute and the Weld County Home Rule Charter, is vested with the authority of
administering the affairs of Weld County, Colorado, and
WHEREAS, the Big Thompson River is a valuable resource in Larimer and Weld
Counties, and
WHEREAS, human activities in the Big Thompson River watershed affect the rivers
water quality, cumulative effects of which will continue to cause adverse and costly impacts in
the future, and
WHEREAS, in 1996, the North Front Range Water Quality Planning Association
completed a preliminary watershed study, and
WHEREAS, when the final report was presented to the public, a group of concerned
people representing private citizens and government agencies endorsed the formation of a
watershed forum to promote the protection of the watershed and the quality of its waters
through the coordinated efforts of all interested stakeholders for economic and health benefits
of present and future generations, and
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners deems it advisable to participate in the
Big Thompson Watershed Forum for one year, at the cost of $1,000, and
WHEREAS, the Board deems it advisable to appoint Commissioner William Webster to
serve as its representative.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners of
Weld County, Colorado, that participation in the Big Thompson Watershed Forum for one year
be, and hereby is, approved.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED by the Board that the Director of Finance and
Administration be, and hereby is, authorized to pay Weld County's one year contribution of
$1,000.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED by the Board that Commissioner William Webster be, and
hereby is, appointed to serve as its representative on the Big Thompson Watershed Forum.

The Big Thompson River is a very valuable resource in Larimer and Weld Counties.
Its water is collected from a large natural watershed on the Eastern Slope of the
Rocky Mountains, supplemented by noes.
