Box 758 Greeley, Colorado 80632 Ladies & Gentlemen : RE : SCHEDULE NUMBER R3330268 for taxes of 821 E. 16th St. , Greeley, Colorado 80631 My Brothers terminal illness caused me to miss the meeting as was scheduled for 11-17-99,9 : 00 A.M. I am sorry and regretful . Fasten your safety belts because here are the tax facts . When this began and I was made aware that the taxes were in error I was at the Assessors office. An employee of the Assessors office provided me with the information of the taxes being in error. This employee than called in two other employees of the Assessors office for a meeting and decided that this was indeed an error by the Assessors office. They provided the information and tax forms that I submitted and suggested that this was probably the best way to go about fixing the tax error. It was not openly discussed but I had the distinct feeling that they did not wish to correct the error themselves, because the feared administrative/beaurcratic retaliation. I do have their business cards . This error of taxing a single car garage built in 1945= now 55 years old at $12 , 888 . The Assessor, Michael Sampson stated that it was once used as a residence and that was the reason for the high taxes . The property has been in litigation & foreclosure for two years and this bldg. has been empty (unoccupied as had the rest of this property for almost or all of this time. ) Yes I am considering destructing this building and another on this site, but even so there is an internal problem here that needs to be fixed as well as this tax problem.
