Weld County Council Seat Petitions = �
Available July 16
Weld County residents who would like to serve on the Weld County Council may
pick up petitions July 16 at the Weld County Election Department, 1402 N. 17th Ave.,
Greeley, CO. Petitions may also be obtained by mail be telephoning Kathy Seiler at the
Election Department, 353-3840 x 3070. Candidate petitions must be returned by 4:30
p.m., September 4. Council positions up for election in 1998 are one At-Large four-year
term; one District I four-year term; and one District III four-year term.
The Weld County Council consists of five non-partisan elected members, one
representing each district and two at-large members. The Weld County Council was
created with the adoption of Weld County's Home Rule Charter. It is a distinctive
organization offering citizens and employees of Weld County the opportunity to
participate in their County government. Persons may present their concerns regarding
County government to the Council as the Council is charged to review all aspects of
County government and make reports to the people. In addition to reviewing county
government the Council has four other functions described in the Weld County Home
Rule Charter: 1) to set salaries of elected officials, 2) to fill vacancies on the Board of
County Commissioners, 3) to suspend public officials charged with a crime, and to 4)
review conflicts of interest within County government.
The Weld County Council's office is open on Mondays and Wednesday. The
Council office may be reached by telephoning 356-4000 x 4780.
