I am writing to request that the spot light you at the Laidlaw
South Landfill turn on when you begin your operations at 5: 00
AM be somehow shaded and/or directed down so that it does not
shine directly out for over one mile to my residence and awaken
me at the time you begin your 7 days a week operation. With
the sun coming up later and later, and with day light' s saving
time soon to go off, I am finding this to be most irritating,
frustrating, as well as against county ordinance. At the ,
hearings for Laidlaw' s expansion request, this spotlight
irritation problem was addressed by the homeowners from Erie
Airpark and both the Planning and Zoning department as well
as the County Commissioners were understanding and sympathetic
to the issue. Laidlaw was give preferential treatment in your
permitted hours and days of operation when compared to the other
recently permitted landfill operations in this area. We hope
that you will not use that position to make it even more
difficult for us to live next door to you as your neighbors .
We hope that this issue of the distance and the intensity with
which the spotlight travels can be corrected and be brought
into compliance with county regulations or at least adjusted
such that as your neighbors we do not need to be awakened before
dawn with your spotlight making our bedroom as bright as day.
