Home My WebLink About930704.tiff RESOLUTION RE: APPROVE INSTALLATION OF "STOP" AND "STOP AHEAD" SIGNS ON WELD COUNTY ROAD 11 AT WELD COUNTY ROAD 8 WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado, pursuant to Colorado statute and the Weld County Home Rule Charter, is vested with the authority of administering the affairs of Weld County, Colorado, and WHEREAS, the Weld County Engineering Department has recommended to the Board that "Stop" and "Stop Ahead" signs be installed on Weld County Road 11 at Weld County Road 8, to insure safety to the traveling public, and WHEREAS, the Board has determined that said traffic devices are necessary for the protection of the general public. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado, that the Department of Engineering be, and hereby is, directed to install "Stop" and "Stop Ahead" signs on Weld County Road 11 at Weld County Road 8, for the safety of the general public, and said signs must conform to the State manual and specifications. The above and foregoing Resolution was, on motion duly made and seconded, adopted by the following vote on the 2nd day of August, A.D. , 1993. Install 4-way stop signs at WCR 8 & 11; also at WCR 8 & 13. Oil or treat the surfaces of these roads to cut down the dust. Plow WCR 8 to widen it to 24' . Install warning signs at the blind hill on WCR 8 near the motorcycle complex.. Inspect the area at the east end of the complex by WCR 8. This area has motorcycle jumping hills that to me are too close to the road. A bike out of control could easily end up on the road. Traffic congestion on Weld oad 8 east of Co. 25. Suggestions to make the area safer. I was investigating a traffic complaint in the area of county road 8 east of Co . 25 when i realized that complaint was really just traffic congestion onwhatwasonce a quiet county road I found a new motor cycle track 1 mile east of Co. 25 . "IMI Motorsports Complex" is seven different race courses. A drag strip, dirt oval , road course , motorcross, flat track/speedway, off road, and race cart track are located there. It is quiet a place, still under construction, but still a sight . This race track is 3 years old ,but really growing this year. The complex is open daily but the congestion occurs on the weekend when many events are happening at once. There is also a Stock Car Track 8 andckjust north of road 11 to this c to Cox and some overflow traffic uses 25. The complex is on the south side of county road 8 but the site is taxed by the City of Dacono. Thus , we should not have to cover any accidents ( ie private property ,parking lot) . d a County road 8 east of Co. 25 is our area. It he road also has 0 feet wide ndna gravel road that is very dusty when dry. dangerous hillcrest just west of the complex.
