Dear Commissioners,
Effective May 1, 1991, United Artists Cable will be adding CNN to our existing PLUS service.
This change will not impact any of our customers in your area. As you know, our concern about
increased programming costs and the impact these costs have on our subscribers convinced us last year
to make some visually minor changes. Accordingly, we began offering our subscribers a choice to delete
certain cable networks from their service, resulting in a reduction in their monthly rate. This became our
PLUS service. Subscribers who did not wish to take our PLUS service received a reduction of 450 from
their monthly cable bills.
Listed below is a breakdown of our Basic and PLUS service. As of May 1, Basic service will
include these channels:
KWGN EPG TNN KCNC
FAMILY CHANNEL LIFETIME KTVD KWGN
WGN KRMA VH1 KMGH
WEATHER CHANNEL MTV HEADLINE NEWS OVC
GREELEY CHANNEL KDVR KUSA DISTRICT 6
WT BS LEARNING CHANNEL A&E NICKELODEON
KBDI C•SPAN UNIVISION TBN
As of May 1, 1991, the PLUS service will include these channels for an additional 450 per
month:
CNN TNT USA Network ESPN
The Discovery Channel AMC and PSN/FNN
During the past year, cable companies have seen dramatic increases in the programming
costs we must pay to networks for the right to cablecast their services. It is our belief that these
programming services are likely to increase in cost in the future. United Artists Cable continues to be
committed to offering our subscribers the option of a lower cost Basic service. That is why we are
making this change.
The change will not result in any increase in the total bill for any of our customers. Those
customers who presently subscribe to the Basic service only, will be personally notified by phone and
letter during the first week in April.
