HomeMy WebLinkAbout920739.tiff RESOLUTION RE: TRANSPORTATION ACCESS FROM NORTHERN COLORADO TO THE NEW DENVER INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado, pursuant to Colorado statute and the Weld County Home Rule Charter, is vested with the authority of administering the affairs of Weld County, Colorado, and WHEREAS, the new Denver International Airport is scheduled to open in the fall of 1993, and WHEREAS, efficient access to the new airport is essential to the citizens and economy of northern Colorado, and WHEREAS, 104th Avenue and Tower Road can be improved, at reasonable cost, by the time the new airport opens to provide an alternate access for the short term, and WHEREAS, the Colorado Department of Transportation has the expertise to plan and implement long-term access improvements to the new airport. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado, that: 1. Projects in the Colorado Department of Transportation Five-Year Plan should not be postponed or eliminated to provide funding for airport access improvements. 2. 104th Avenue and Tower Road should be improved by opening day to provide an alternate access to the new airport for the short term. 3. The Colorado Department of Transportation should be the lead agency, in cooperation with the cities and counties in northern Colorado, to plan and implement long-term internodal transportation improvements to the new airport.
