Dear Mr. Kennedy:
After my conversation with Jim Sheehan , he instructed me to
write a letter of intent to apply for a Community Development
Block Grant. The sum we are trying to receive is $90 ,000.00.
These funds will pay for water and sewer taps , offsite drainage
program and permit fees.
The project is designed as a U-shaped building surrounding a
private and secure courtyard , with 12 two-bedroom units . First
floor units will he handicap friendly. The project also includes
a playground facility for children , on-site parking and a laundry
facility. The housing will support the need of low- to moderate-
income persons ; rents will be approximately $435 .00 per month and
utilities will cost approximately $50 .00 per month.
The proposed site lies within the 100-year flood plain , but the
Town of Erie , Colorado, through storm drainage channelization
and bridge re-building will have this location re-mapped ,
scheduled to be out of the flood plain sometime around the end
of June , 1992. At that time, construction will proceed .
The Town of Erie Planning and Zoning Committee has given
tentative approval to the project and supports the right to
apply for the CDBG.
I have in closing a small sketch of the proposed building .
Architecture drawings are in the process of being drafted along
with engineering drawings.
