WELD COUNTY ASSESSOR'S REPORT TO THE BOARD OF EQUALIZATION
in accordance with CRS 39-8-105.
The appeals received by the assessor's office this year went
smoothly and I believe every taxpayer was given fair consider-
ation. Here are some statistics:
1100 real property parcels were protested consisting of
1092 real estate accounts
7 leasehold accounts and
1 mineral account.
48% of the real parcels were adjusted an average 12.7%.
52% of the parcels were deemed correct by the appraisers.
Total adjustment amounts to 0.71% of the total valuation.
163 personal property parcels were protested which were
123 oil and gas equipment accounts and
40 commercial and industrial accounts.
37% were adjusted and 63% were denied.
550 personal property accounts did not return the DECLARATION
SCHEDULE to the Assessor's office and are being assigned a Best
Information Available (BIA) valuation. A penalty of up to 25% of
the assessed value may be added for any omitted property discover-
ed and valued. Enclosed is a sample letter which was sent to all
BIA accounts along with a second Declaration Schedule giving the
taxpayer a second chance to comply before imposing the penalty.
I have enclosed a list of all persons who have appeared before me
to present objections and the action in each case. Also enclosed
is a list of valuations for assessment of portable or movable
equipment which have been apportioned pursuant to the provisions
of CRS 39-5-113.
Respectfully Submitted,
Richard W. Keirnes
