HomeMy WebLinkAbout911065.tiff RESOLUTION RE: CONDUCT SPECIAL ELECTION OF OCTOBER 29, 1991, BY MAIL BALLOT ELECTION WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado, pursuant to Colorado statue and the Weld County Home Rule Charter, is vested with the authority of administering the affairs of Weld County, Colorado, and WHEREAS, the Board has considered setting a special election for October 29, 1991, to consider one or more issues initiated or referred by the electorate or initiated by this Board which issues do not involve elections or recall elections concerning partisan candidates and will not take place on the same day as a Primary, General, or Congressional vacancy election, and WHEREAS, since January 1, 1991, the Mail Ballot Election Act has allowed political subdivisions of the State of Colorado, including counties, to conduct certain elections in accordance with the Mail Ballot Election Act, and WHEREAS, the Weld County Clerk and Recorder has previously presented a plan to the Secretary of State and received approval of the plan for conducting a mail ballot election from the Secretary of State, and WHEREAS, pursuant to C.R.S. Section 1-7.5-104, it is the option of the governing board of any political subdivision to determine if an election, which is otherwise eligible, shall be by mail ballot, and WHEREAS, the Weld County Clerk and Recorder estimates that conduct of the Special Election by mail ballot will result in a substantial savings to the taxpayers of Weld County. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Special Election called for October 29, 1991, shall be conducted in accordance with the Mail Ballot Election Act and the regulations of the Secretary of State promulgated thereunder. The above and foregoing Resolution was, on motion duly made and seconded, adopted by the following vote on the 9th day of September, A.D. , 1991.
