Home My WebLink About930845.tiff RESOLUTION RE: APPROVE EXTENSION OF TERMINATION DATES OF VARIOUS PEST CONTROL DISTRICTS WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado, pursuant to Colorado statute and the Weld County Home Rule Charter, is vested with the authority of administering the affairs of Weld County, Colorado, and WHEREAS, petitions were presented to the Board of County Commissioners requesting the extension of termination dates of the Eaton-Ault Pest Control District #6, Platte Valley Pest Control District #5, Prairie View Pest Control District #9, and Southeast Weld Pest Control District #4, WHEREAS, a hearing was held before the Board on August 25, 1993 concerning said petitions, and WHEREAS, it was determined by the Board, after hearing the evidence presented, that it is in the best interest of Weld County to extend the termination dates of said districts to December 31, 1996. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado, that pursuant to Section 35-5-104(7) , CRS, the termination dates of the Eaton-Ault Pest Control District #6, Platte Valley Pest Control District #5, Prairie View Pest Control District #9, and Southeast Weld Pest Control District #4 be, and hereby are, extended to December 31, 1996. Harbert, Chairman Commissioner W. H. Webster, Pro-Tem Commissioner George E. Baxter Commissioner Dale K. Hall Commissioner Barbara J. Kirkmeyer Also present: Acting Clerk to the Board, Carol Harding County Attorney, Bruce Barker Extension Department representative, Ron Broda Director of Finance and Administration, Donald D. Warden The following business was transacted: I hereby certify that pursuant to a notice dated August 2, 1993, and duly published August 12, 1993, in the Windsor Beacon, a public hearing was conducted to consider the request for extension of termination dates from the advisory committees for the Eaton-Ault Pest Control District #6, Platte Valley Pest Control District #5, Prairie View Pest Control District #9, and Southeast Weld Pest Control District #4. Bruce Barker, County Attorney, made this a matter of record. Ron Broda, Extension Department representative, explained each of the four abovenamed districts have requested an extensionof termination dates to December 31, 1996. In this manner, all nine districts will have the same termination date. Commissioner Hall questioned whether or not there is duplication of services between the old and new weed laws, and whether any duplication exists between what is being done in weed districts versus the entire County. Mr. Broda responded there is no duplication of services. The weed districts benefit Weld County by making it easier to control problems within a specific area. He stated they will be evaluating the two laws and how they work together. Appearing before the Board in support of the request for extension were various advisory board members as follows: Bryce Bowman, Prairie View District #9; Clyde Abbott, Platte Valley District #5; Bruce Kauffman, Southeast Weld District #4; and Art Anderson, Eaton-Ault District #6. Commissioner Hall moved to approve the extension of termination dates for the Eaton-Ault Pest Control District #6, Platte Valley Pest Control District #5, Prairie View Pest Control District #9, and Southeast Weld Pest Control District #4 until December 31, 1996. Seconded by Commissioner Kirkmeyer, the motion carried unanimously. This Certification was approved on the 30th day of August, 1993.
