RE: ENDORSING PASSAGE OF SENATE BILL 1174 AND HOUSE BILL 3468 CONCERNING
DESIGNATION OF CACHE LA POUDRE RIVER BASIN AS A NATIONAL WATER HERITAGE
AREA
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado,
pursuant to Colorado statute and the Weld County Home Rule Charter, is vested
with the authority of administering the affairs of Weld County, Colorado, and
WHEREAS, the Cache la Poudre River Basin extends through portions of Weld
County, and
WHEREAS, the Cache la Poudre River Basin has been an instrumental feature
in the development of Weld County and northern Colorado, and
WHEREAS, the Cache la Poudre River represents a significant place in
history as a catalyst in the development of western water law, and
WHEREAS, the Cache la Poudre River Basin continues to function as a working
river for users in northern Colorado, and
WHEREAS, the Cache la Poudre River corridor has been identified as a
desirable area for community use for recreational purposes, and
WHEREAS, the development of a regional policy framework and strategy to
protect the interests of the users of the Cache la Poudre River Basin as well as
the integrity of this waterway is in the public's best interest.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners of Weld
County, Colorado, that proposed Senate Bill 1174 and House Bill 3468 which
designate the Cache la Poudre River Basin as a National Water Heritage Area be,
and hereby are, fully endorsed.
The above and foregoing Resolution was, on motion duly made and seconded,
adopted by the following vote on the 15th day of April, A.D. , 1992.
