WELD COUNTY COUNCIL REPORT TO THE PEOPLE - AJ DECEMBER 29, 1992 , _ '' ' ! r, The Weld County Council is mandated by the Home Rule Charter of Weld County, Colorado to report to the people the events that have shaped the previous quarter. This report summarizes the activities of the Weld County Council during the fourth quarter of the calendar year 1992. In October, the Council continued its investigation regarding Weld County Investments with a panel of financial experts including Mr. Todd McLean of Prudential Securities, Mr. David Todd of PaineWebber and Mr. John Rees of Columbia Savings. A Resolution setting Weld County Commissioners ' salaries for the years 1995 and 1996 was signed, and the Council's Report to the People for the first three quarters of 1992 was also approved. The Council traveled to Dacono for its November meeting, where the Weld County Investment discussion was continued. An excellent citizen turnout brought other public concerns to light. The December 2 meeting in Greeley saw the Council determine that a conflict of interest did not exist for the County Coroner, Wesley Hall, regarding the hiring of his son-in-law for the position of Deputy Coroner. The rough draft of the Council' s Weld County Investment Recommendation was completed at this meeting. It was decided to hold a special meeting on December 16 to in order to finalize this Recommendation. The December 16 meeting brought the Weld County Investment Recommendation to conclusion. Copies of this document may be obtained by contacting the Council office at 356-4000, extension 4780. Discussion and public input concerning the Weld County executive compensation plan was held at this meeting. During the fourth quarter of 1992, the Council has met periodically with the Commissioners and various Elected Officials and Department Heads in an attempt to keep the lines of communication open. This report is not meant to be an exclusive enumeration of the activities eL 930857 entered into by the Council. It is, however, an attempt to communicate with the voters on our activities. BOX 758 GREELEY, CO 80632 356-4000, ext. 4780 , " PRESS RELEASE The Weld County Council elected new officers for 1993 during their January 6, 1993, meeting. Councilman David L. Young, an At-Large Councilman, was re-elected President, and Councilman Ralph Campbell , representing District III , was elected Vice President. In addition, new Assignment Areas for the Council members were determined. They are as follows: Councilman David L. Young--Department of Finance, General Services & Personnel Councilman Ralph Campbell--Department of Health Services Councilman Clair Orr--Department of Planning Services Councilwoman Barbara Ott--Department of Engineering Services Councilman James Gardner--Department of Communications Services In accordance with the Weld County Home Rule Charter, the Council will hold its next regular meeting on Wednesday, February 3, 1993, at 7:30 p.m. in the First Floor Assembly Room of the Centennial Center, 915 Tenth Street, Greeley. The Council will determine its 1993 meeting schedule. The public is invited to attend the Council meeting and provide input on any issue they may have per- taining to County government. -30- Hello
