RE: ACCEPT PETITIONS OF INITIATIVE FOR PROPOSED AMENDMENT OF THE
WELD COUNTY HOME RULE CHARTER FROM COMMUNICATION WORKERS OF
AMERICA
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County,
Colorado, pursuant to Colorado statute and the Weld County Home
Rule Charter, is vested with the authority of administering the
affairs of Weld County, Colorado, and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 17-1 of Article XVII of the Weld
County Home Rule Charter, the Colorado Constitution, and CRS
X30-11-506 it is required that the Board of County Commissioners
call an election to consider an amendment to the Charter when
presented with a petition proposing an amendment, signed by at
least 5% of the registered electors, and
WHEREAS, petitions for the amendment of Section 4-2 (B) of
Article IV of the Home Rule Charter for Weld County were submitted
by representatives of Communication Workers of America (CWA) to
Mary Ann Feuerstein, Clerk and Recorder for the County of Weld,
and
WHEREAS, the Clerk and Recorder reviewed said petitions and
found that the petitions are proper in form and contain sufficient
signatures to meet the requirements of the Colorado Constitution,
CRS 530-11-506 , and Section 17-1 (1) (a) of the Home Rule Charter
for Weld County, and
WHEREAS, at the regular Board meeting of January 8 , 1990,
said petitions were submitted to the Board of County Commissioners
by the Clerk and Recorder, and
WHEREAS, after consideration, the Board deems it advisable to
accept said petitions for study and consideration with a decision
on calling an election continued to January 79_,_ 1.99.0_ _ at 9-: 00 a.m.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County
Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado, that the petitions of
initiative for a proposed amendment to Section 4-2 (B) of Article
IV of the Home Rule Charter of Weld County be, and hereby are,
accepted for study and consideration with a decision on calling
the election continued to January 29, 1990, at 9 : 00 a.m.

The above and foregoing Resolution was, on motion duly made
and seconded, adopted by the following vote on the 8th day of
January, A.D. , 1990 .
