ON JULY 24 AND 25, 1993 WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado, pursuant to Colorado statute and the Weld County Home Rule Charter, is vested with the authority of administering the affairs of Weld County, Colorado, and WHEREAS, the Ault Sertoma Club, Inc., has presented to the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado, an application for a Special Events County Retail Permit for the sale of fermented malt beverages, containing not more than 3.2% of alcohol by weight, for consumption on the premises only, and WHEREAS, the applicant having paid the sum of FIFTY DOLLARS ($50.00) to Weld County, Colorado, pursuant to the laws providing therefore in payment for a County Retail Permit for the sale of fermented malt beverages, containing not more than 3.2% of alcohol by weight, for consumption on the premises only, for an event scheduled for two days only on July 24 and 25, 1993, from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., at the location described as follows: 600 Crosier Avenue, Greeley -Weld County Airport, Greeley, Colorado 80631 WHEREAS, the applicant has submitted all requisite application information, except for written documentation of the approval by the Greeley -Weld County Airport Authority of the sale and consumption of 3.2% beer on July 24 and 25, 1993, at the Greeley -Weld County Airport, and WHEREAS, the Greeley -Weld County Airport Authority Board expects to consider the matter at its monthly meeting on Thursday, July 15, 1993. All beer sales and consumption will be conducted within the confines of the airport picnic pavilion and the associated grass area (approximately 75' X 150' total area). No beer sales or consumption will be allowed beyond this area. 3. A minimum of 15 Weld County Sheriff deputies and two City of Greeley police officers will be on duty on airport grounds at all times during the duration of this event to provide assistance and crowd/traffic control. 4. Paramedic ambulance units and fire department crews and equipment will be stationed on site throughout the event. Box 758 Greeley, CO 80632 Dear Board of County Commissioners: This letter is written regarding the application by the Ault Sertoma Club to conduct 3.2% beer sales at the Colorado Air Festival to be held at our airport on July 24th and 25th of this year. It is my understanding that there was some uncertainty among the County Commissioners as to whether formal approval had been given by the Airport Authority to the Ault Sertoma Club to conduct these sales during the scheduled event. Due to scheduling conflicts, there was no regularly scheduled meeting of the Airport Authority Board during the month of June, nor was it possible to arrange a special meeting of the Board to discuss this matter prior to the Weld County Commissioners hearing on this issue as it was scheduled on Monday, July 12th. An informal poll of all Airport Authority Board members regarding this subject did indicate that the majority of the Board (six affirmative, one abstaining from comment until regular meeting) appeared to have no strong objections to this activity. This matter is scheduled as an agenda item for final disposition/approval at our next regular meeting of the Airport Authority Board on Thursday, July 15, 1993, at 3:00 p.m. In addition, I would like to indicate that numerous safety precautions have been implemented to ensure that a safe and enjoyable environment exists for this event, including: 1) all beer sales and consumption will be conducted within the confines of the airport picnic pavilion and the associated grass area (approximately 75'x150' total area). No beer sales or consumption will be allowed beyond this area; 2) a minimum of 15 Weld County Sheriff deputies and two City of Greeley police officers will be on duty on airport grounds at all times during the duration of this event to provide assistance and crowd/traffic control; 3) paramedic ambulance units and fire department crews and equipment will be stationed on site throughout the event. I am confident that given the professionalism and responsiveness of all parties involved in the promotion and conduct of this festival, a truly safe and enjoyable experience will be assured for all concerned.
