Dear Commissioners:
The Board of Weld County Undesirable Weed Management is writing this letter to
request the commissioners reconsider the budget cuts given to the Weed and Pest
Department.
This Board was established by the commissioners to carry out a specific task
mandated by the 1990 state weed law. This board has accomplished a tremendous
amount of work in carrying out the state mandates concerning weed management in a
short amount of time. Weld County has become the leader in the state in carrying out
this law which contributes to the economic aspect of our agricultural economy.
We request the commissioners fund the Weed Department with the budget given
to the department in 1992 to enable the department to continue with the aggressive
program established this year. We remind the commissioners that there had been no
budget increase since 1987. Expenses for operating supplies and personnel continued
to rise even though the budget did not. With a budget reverting to the 1987 level there
is no possible way for this board and department to continue with its response to the new
weed law.

Our signatures below indicate that we as a board would like to discuss with you
the importance of allowing the Pest and Weed Department budget to continue at least at
the 1992 level.
