RE: TCI Cablevision of Colorado announces rate increase to premium channels.
Dear Commissioners,
Enclosed you will find packets of information regarding our rate increase to premium
channels to be effective July 1 , 1993. The monthly rate for the first premium channel,
i.e HBO, Cinemax, The Disney Channel or Showtime, will be increased from $7.95 to
$8.95. The rate for subscription to the second, third or fourth premium channel will
remain at $6.95 per month.
The packet includes historica' information, the new rate structure and 1993 changes,
the number of your citizens that will be affected along with how customers will be
notified. Most importantly, please note that the rates for premium channels remain the
lowest in Colorado.
The information is being provided to city and county officials in our coverage area to
insure that you are informed as to plans that will affect your citizens and our customers.
We are sorry to have missed you at the breakfast meeting last week, but hope the
packets offer sufficient explanation. As always, please call with questions or concerns.

service to the communities of Evans, Garden City and Weld County. TCI,

TCI Cablevision of Colorado changed the channel lineup as well as the rate
structure in March. Launching pay-per-view and Digital Music Express has met
with positive response from our customers and we expect both new services to
experience steady growth.
On July 1, 1993, there will be a rate increase on the premium channels,
HBO, Cinemax and The Disney Channel. The $1.00 rate increase will affect the
first premium channel only.
Here's a recap of the changes in channel rates since 1985 -
Basic Service Premium Channels
1985 $11.95 $8.00 and $7.00 Additional outlets $5.00
1986 $13.95 $8.95
1988 $15.95 $8.95 Lowered additional outlets to$2.95 month. Remotes
from $5.00 to $2.95/month; sound remotes from $5.95
to$3.95/month FM service from$3.00 to no monthly
charge.
1989 $19.95 $7.95 Introduce whole house service. No monthly charge
for additional outlets. Lower premium charges.
1990 $19.50 $7.95 Introduce Plus Service.
$.45 LPlus Service)
$19.95 No change in total monthly rate.
1991 no change in rates
1992 no change in rates Introduce ENCORE to the premium channel lineup.
Available ala carte for$1.50 or with another
premium service for only$1.00.

Premium channel customers will receive direct notification of the increase for their service
in the form of a post card. Notice of the rate increase will be given through print ads,
radio spots and cross promotion on cable channels. New customers will be informed of
the increase at the time of subscription.
