RE: APPROVE INSTALLATION OF "30 MPH SPEED LIMIT" SIGNS WITHIN THE BOUNDARIES
OF WATTENBURG
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado,
pursuant to Colorado statute and the Weld County Home Rule Charter, is vested
with the authority of administering the affairs of Weld County, Colorado, and
WHEREAS, the Weld County Engineering Department has recommended to the
Board that "30 mph Speed Limit" signs be installed on Caroline, Mary, and Grace
Avenues, all within the boundaries of Wattenburg, to insure safety to the
traveling public, and
WHEREAS, the Board has determined that said traffic devices are necessary
for the protection of the general public.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners of Weld
County, Colorado, that the Department of Engineering be, and hereby is, directed
to install "30 mph Speed Limit" signs on Caroline, Mary, and Grace Avenues, all
within the boundaries of Wattenburg, for the safety of the general public, and
said signs must conform to the State manual and specifications.
The above and foregoing Resolution was, on motion duly made and seconded,
adopted by the following vote on the 21st day of April, A.D. , 1993.

To Whom It May Concern;
We are responding to the memo from the residents of Wattenberg regarding
requests for speed control signs, weight limit signs, and additional gravel
upgrade.
The Road & Bridge Department conducted a traffic study and speed control signs
will be erected.
We have no authority to restrict trucks that have legal loads on from traveling
through Wattenberg.
The gravel plan has been set for 1993 and we do not plan to do additional
gravel work in Wattenberg since graveling was completed last fall.

SUBJECT: Upgrading of Traffic Signs
TO: Weld County Commissioners
We the residents of the town of Wattenberg request 91r :.
assistance with erection of Speed Control Signs, Weight Limit
Control Signs, Rerouting Traffic Signs for large trucks and ?
to continue the gravel upgrading. The reasons for these requests
are as follows.:
a. Gravel upgrading helps to keep the rain water and snow
melt from pooling in front of our homes.
b. Speed Control and Weight Limit signs will be very useful
in controlling the traffic of large trucks, oil rigs, tractors
and other farm machinery. `, This kind of traffic seems to disreguard
a reasonable speed limit.`- Therefore we would like to suggest
a reroute of this heavy volume of traffic to the west of Wattenberg.
The reason for this. rebute of traffic is the dust, it gets so bad
a person can't even-see across the street, it also causes burning
of the eyes and i"s 'fhazardous to residents with asthma and other
