RE: APPROVE NOMINATION PROCESS FOR APPOINTMENTS AND REAPPOINTMENTS TO THE WELD
COUNTY PLACEMENT ALTERNATIVES COMMISSION
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado,
pursuant to Colorado statute and the Weld County Home Rule Charter, is vested
with the authority of administering the affairs of Weld County, Colorado, and
WHEREAS, the Board has been presented with a Nomination Process for
Appointments and Reappointments to the Weld County Placement Alternatives
Commission, and
WHEREAS, after study and review, the Board deems it advisable to approve
said process, a copy being attached hereto and incorporated herein by this
reference.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners of Weld
County, Colorado, that the Nomination Process for Appointments and Reappointments
to the Weld County Placement Alternatives Commission be, and hereby is, approved.
The above and foregoing Resolution was, on motion duly made and seconded,
adopted by the following vote on the 23rd day of March, A.D. , 1992.

NOMINATION PROCESS
Appointments and Reappointments to the Weld County
Placement Alternatives Commission
A. Background
1. Appointments and reappointments to the Weld County Placement
Alternatives Commission shall be in accordance with Section 19-1-
116, C.R.S. , (Children's Code) and the Weld County home Rule
Charter.
Appointments and reappointments to Weld County Placement
alternatives Commission shall conform with the PAC By-laws as
follows:
a. The Placement alternatives Commission shall consist of a
maximum of 18 members.
b. Members are appointed by Weld County Board of County
Commissioners for three year terms.
c. A member may be appointed for a second consecutive three year
term by the board.
B. Proposed Nomination Process
1. Recruitment for all new members to the Placement alternatives
Commission (PAC) will consist of:
a. General advertising; and
b. Requesting nominations from organizations or businesses when
this type of representation is necessary to conform with PAC
By-laws or to fill a representation need on the Placement
Alternatives Commission; and
c. Including nominations that were directly submitted to the
Board of County Commissioners and that were referred to the
PAC by the Board of County Commissioners.
2. Each nominee will be sent the attached application which will
provide for biographical information.
3. Placement alternatives Commission appoints a nominating committee
consisting of the Chair, Vice Chair, Social Services representative,
County Commissioner representative, and two other general members.
4. The Nominating Committee reviews the membership including vacancies
and reappoints according to the Children's Code and Weld County Home
Rule Charter.
5. Nominating Committee will establish a list of nominee(s) for each
vacancy and a list of reappointments for consideration by the
Placement Alternatives Commission.

6. The Placement Alternatives Commission will review the list of
nominations for vacancies and reappoints for approval and forward
such list to the Board of County Commissioners for approval.
7. The Board of County Commissioners shall review the list of
nominations for vacancies and reappoints. The Board of County
Commissioners will review the PAC applications and may also
interview the nominees, as deemed appropriate by the Board of County
Commissioners.
8. The Board of County Commissioners shall appoint members to fill
vacancies or reappoint members for an additional term.
